Idaho 43, Bowling Green 42
BG scored on a long bomb to take a 42-35 lead with thirty seconds left. Idaho completed a long pass down to the fifteen and scored on the very next play, making it 42-41 with 4 seconds left. The Vandals went for two and got it. The MAC has lost their last thirteen bowl games.
Nebraska 33, Arizona 0
Arizona finished with 108 yards of offense. Even more embarrassing, they made Nebraska's normally-anemic offense look downright ... good. If you've ever compared Mike Stoops to Bradley Whitford, you have a kindred spirit.
Air Force 47, Houston 20
Case "Six INTs" Keenum for Heisman!
Oklahoma 31, Stanford 27
The Cardinal scored on touchdown drives of 14 and 11 yards, respectively, after an interception and a blocked punt each set them up inside the Sooner 15-yard-line. Otherwise, this one could have been ugly, as Oklahoma outgained Stanford 477-262.
Navy 35, Missouri 13
Good for the Middies. Defense was optional in this one, as the teams combined for 871 yards. Navy ran for 385. The Big 12 North - and, very possibly, the conference as a whole - absolutely stunk this year.
Iowa State 14, Minnesota 13
Iowa State overcame four turnovers to beat the Gophers, whose two turnovers of their own proved incredibly costly: Adam Weber threw a pick in the Iowa State endzone and, with four minutes left and trailing by 1 inside the ISU 20-yard-line, Minny went to the WildNoun, and backup QB MarQueis Gray fumbled away the chance at a go-ahead field goal.
Virginia Tech 37, Tennessee 14
Virginia Tech defense + Jonathan Crompton = a game that is Not interesting in the second half. Actually, that's not fair; Crompton was competent, but the Hokies outgained Tennessee on the ground 229-5, and once Crompton got in a hole, there was no way he was bringing them back.
And in the pick 'em, the top 15 stays remarkably similar. The only major moves one way or the other? Evan, who hovered around #10 for the first week and a half of the bowl fortnight, dropped to a tie for 16th place. Doesn't sound like much of a dip, but consider: after starting 7-5, Evan, beginning with Wisconsin's win over Miami, has gone 1-7 in the last eight games. Similarly, Kat had a bad New Year's Eve, as she picked Houston, Stanford, Missouri, and Minnesota. Hardly any movement anywhere else. Kristin and Jimmah are still in relative control (after all, I'll take actual points over possible points remaining), although Stephen Wolfe and his Kitten Mittons entry are within striking distance with a shitload of points remaining.
